Viola Wills Tribute Mix

Disco Diva Legend Viola Wills

American pop star Viola Wills died on Wednesday May 6, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. She was 69.

Wills was discovered by soul legend Barry White and worked with Smokey Robinson and Joe Cocker before landing a hit of her own with "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Gonna Get Along Without You Now."
She went onto enjoy a string of dance hits and earned the title 'disco diva' in the U.S. and U.K.
In the 1980s she diversified her sound and formed a jazz/gospel fusion band called Jazzspel.
Following her death, the following message was posted on Viola Wills' official website (http://www.violawills.com/), "It is with great sadness that Viola's family report Viola passed peacefully away after a long illness, May 6th 8.27am Pacific Time.

"Viola leaves behind six children - Vincent, Christopher, Regina, La Donna, David and Rejal, 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Viola was just 69 years old.

"Viola's favourite saying to her family was always 'Aim for the sky and always dare to dream'.
"On Viola's behalf her family wish a special heartfelt thanks to all of Vi's fans over the years, whom, Vi always said, allowed her dreams to come true."
She is one of my favorite disco artists. May she rest in peace.

I made this tribute mix specially for her. These are some of the songs she sang.
